The film has a bad story, some erotic scenes, bad acting performance. In short, there is hardly anything good about the film. Don’t waste you hard earned money on this unintentionally funny film.

Zid is a psychotic thriller that will surprise you with its gripping plot and keep you hooked till the very end. Moreover, the convincing roles and a high sensuality quotient make the film entertaining and worth a watch.

The performances are forgettable and flaws scream out loud. The climax tries to shock, but leaves you shaken and wondering – whose zid was this anyway? As the case comes to a painful close, a guy sitting next to me exasperatingly said, “It’s time for a standing ovation.” I rest my case.

Take an aspirin before walking into this one. Twists and cuckoo-ness apart, it’s curiously not that much of a suspense story. You kinda figure that out in the first half itself.

…the writing just doesn’t engage you like a thriller should. It tries the known hooks that horror movies usually opt for when they know they can’t keep you involved – cleavage and sex. Tells you how confident the makers were in the story they had to tell, which incidentally they try to boast about – their narrative capabilities. Unfortunately, it shows a lack thereof.

Zid is not cringe worthy, just plain boring. Selling itself in the garb of a few explicit shots, the film’s fabric did not back itself in a solid enough story. It doesn’t have anything exemplary about it, not its acting, story or the chemistry between its lead pair. The worst thing about Zid was its climax that was downright silly. It’s almost like a bunch of intelligent people thought of doing a crash course in making a silly film and Zid was made.

With songs, cinematography and the cast doing good work, only negative is the same old story about love and obsession which gives a headache. Watch Zid only if you are too bored in life…

Zid is one of those films that fall into my ‘yawn-inducing’ list. Not getting enough sleep? This could be your medicine without side-effects.

Possible ‘Hate Story’ intent but in effect not coming close even to that low ask. There’s in fact a little too much promise in the marketing and precious little in deliverance!

On the whole, Zid lacks the excitement of a suspense thriller. With the songs, human anatomy exposure and the twist in the climax being its only trump cards, its chances at the box-office appear limited, given its dull start.

My review of Zid (2014) by bangreaayushi

Blank foliage! The movie’s story line is linked up to the ‘Obsessed red lady types’. This movie is a ‘never watch twice’. While the trailers were out, it created curiosity for its release. The director of the movie is Vivek Agnihotri who had earlier worked in ‘The Hate story’. The story starts with Rohan who is a crime reporter working with a newspaper. Rohan shifts to a ‘near sea bungalow’. Rohan has just recovered from his break up with his girlfriend ‘Priya’. Maya sees Rohan and it the love at first sight, which makes Maya fall for Rohan. Rohan’s boss’s daughter is Maya which leaves no stone unturned to impress him with her looks. One day when Rohan and Maya returns from a party they meet with an accident and hit a bike. Due to the death of the bike owner, they decide to end the matter by keeping mum. But the lady who was driving the bike is Priya’s step-sister. So it is when Priya returns to India, she discovers Rohan’s love again. But Maya after knowing this, decides to kill her and put an end to this lifelong affair. What happens with Priya? Does Maya succeeds in killing her And bla blab la are all sorts of questions whose answers will be found only after you watch the film. The film’s directionless support from the director makes it completely worthless. The storyline of the film is found confusing and you really can’t raise your expectations high. The film is filled with many erotic scenes and somewhere it makes you realize of those scenes from ‘The hate story’. Its all about love turned into obsession and you cannot completely deny the fact that the film is just the same like ‘The hate story’. The performances of the leads go completely missing. You cannot expect something more than just those childish acts. The songs of the film are vigorous. I mean they are raw and make you feel alive. The film’s choreography is average with lot of sex acts filled in between. Yes, what’s pleasing in the film is how the skies turn to darker shades and gives you melancholy grace in the film. The film’s locations are excellent and you really can’t take your eyes from those scenes. Maya’s screen presence makes you feel that she is a bit loud with her role. Karanvir is exceptional only with his looks. There is no such thing that would define these two as those solid debutants. The film had worked in giving many eroticism (including topeless scenes by leading ladies) but all of them failed to seduce the audiences. The movie has got many flaws which cannot be filled with those stimulating acts. If the story has a strong concept, I guess it surely works. The film’s set designing is too eloquent. The customs designed by the dress designer are spiking. The film intensely lacks in the storyline and classy direction. Script is too poor.
