Binata Ray is a Actor. Binata Ray has mostly worked in Bengali and has worked in languages like Bengali, Hindi.
She was born in Brahmin family in 1925 on Kojagari Lakshmi Purnima Tithi. She was born to Satya Sunder and he was an advocate. He was a lawyer by profession, but he had an interest in music. Even Binata ‘s mother was also a good singer. So, Binata had love in music and so she started as a playback singer in the film ’Dikshul’. Binata got music training from legendary Debabrata Biswas. She was recognized after the film ’Wapas’. In this movie, she sang "Albela Mastana", "Jeevan Hai Bekar" and "Bhool Na Jana". She married to Jyotirmoy Roy. After her marriage, she was allowed to do films only with her husband. So, she did movies like: Abhijatri (1947), Diner Parey Din (1949), Shankhabani (1951), Nagardola (1956), Taka Ana Pai (1956), Kancha Mithhey (1957). After the death of her husband, she left the film industry, but came back with her stunning performances in movies like: Tapan Sinha's Jatugriha (1964), Mrinal Sen's Calcutta 71 (1971), Chhayateer (1972) and finally Hangsharaj (1976).
