Farookh Shaikh, the famous actor in 1970s and 1980s, studied law but made his career in theater and film. During his college he got chance to work in Garam Hawa (1973) and noticed by everybody and in 1977 came Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khiladi and he got chance to work with many talented actors of that time.Finally the movie Noorie (1979) gave him the success and became a big hit.Umrao Jaan and Chashme Buddoor showed his powerful performance and versatility .Baazar and Saath Saath in 1982 made him more confident with his performance. In 1983 Katha gave him success in negative role. Among his successful movies are Rang Birangee(1983),Faasle(1985),Ek Pal(1986).Then in 80’s came the action generation in Bollywood but still he was able to show his acting skill in Gharwali Bahawali,Khel Mohabbat ka,Rajlaxmi even if the movies are not succeed in box office.In 1997 he was seen in Mohabbat and after 17 years of gap he was seen in TV in Ji Mantri Ji and Saas Bahu Aur Sensex and became the host of famous show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.
