He was born on 28 October 1945. He is an Indian actor, politician and producer. He has been an actor and a prolific political leader too. He did Bengali and Assamese movies too. He joined Bharatiya Janata Party. He was born in Tezpur. He completed his education from Lucknow. He was a National level junior in Boxing and Swimming during his college days. He then joined the Assam Engineering College but had to leave midway since his father passed away .He also finished his two year course in Permanent Way Engineering and joined the Northeast Frontier Railway zone in the Engineering Department. His first Assamese movie was Chameli Memsaab. He also did Bengali movie Jatra. He had acted in five languages: Bengali, Assamese, English, Hindi, and Santhali.
