He was born in Loralai Baluchistan, India. He was born in Kashmiri Pandit family. He got married to an Anglo-Indian, Jennifer. They had three children: Puru Raajkumar, Panini Raajkumar and a daughter named Vastavikta Rajkumar. He made his acting debut with the film ‘Rangili’. After this, he did many hit movies like: Hamraaz (1967), Heer Raanjha (1970), Kudrat (1981), Ek Nai Paheli (1984), Marte Dam Tak (1987), Muqaddar Ka Faisla (1987) and Jung Baaz (1989), Saudagar, Aabshar, Ghamand and Lakhon Mein Ek, Lal Patthar (1971) and Pakeezah (1972).
