He was born on 2 November 1965. He is an Indian actor, producer, philanthropist and television personality. He has acted in more than 50 films. He has got 14 filmfare awards and many more accolades for his roles.He has also got Padma Shri award too.He is also awarded for Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007, and in 2014 the Légion d'honneur. He started his career with many television serials. Then after this, he entered bollywood with the film Deewana. Then his roles in the movies like: Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993), and Anjaam (1994), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Devdas (2002), Swades (2004), Chak De! India (2007), My Name Is Khan, Jab tak hai Jaan were much appreciated. These films raised him to the success. He has his own production house known as’ Red chillies entertainment’.
