He was born on 21 October 1931 and he died on 14 August 2011. He was an Indian film actor and director. He was an active personality from the era of 50s and 70s. He is also the recipient of the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 for his performance in Brahmachari and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Vidhaata in 1982. He entered bollywood with the film Jeevan Jyoti’. Then he did movies like: Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Dil Deke Dekho, Singapore, Junglee, College Girl, Professor, China Town, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar, Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Bramhachari, Andaz and Sachaai. He was born to Prithviraj kapoor and Ramsharni Kapoor. He completed his education from St. Joseph's Convent (Wadala) and then, to Don Bosco School and his matric schooling from New Era School at Hughes Road. He was married to Geeta Bali from whom he had a son, Aditya Kapoor and a daughter, Kanchan. But, after the death of his wife, he got remarried to Neila Devi. He died due to chronic renal failure.
