He was born on 25 July 1919 and he died on 29 July 2002. He was a Marathi composer and music singer from India. He is considered as a Marathi icon. He has composed songs for Marathi industry and also Hindi industry. He was also nicknamed as Babuji. He was born in Kolhapur. He was born as Ram Phadke. He started his career with HMV in 1941. He was trained by late Vamanrao Padhye in Kolhapur. He was then associated with Prabhat Film Company. He was married to singer Lalita Deulkar. They had a son Shridhar Phadke, who is also a singer and a composer. During the era of 1954–55, his voice ran all across All India Radio. It was the time when 56 songs were recorded in Sudhir’s voice. He composed songs for 111 songs. Out of this 21 were for Hindi movies.
