He was born on 3 March 1899. He died on 11 December 1961. He was a virtuoso comic actor in Bengali cinema in 1940s and 1950s. He was born on 3 March 1899 in the small village called Goari. His father was an employee in railways, so they used to move places. His father was Ashutosh Chakraborty. He was a talented tabla and harmonium player who was an employee of the renowned Star Theatre. He was also known for his realistic acting skills. He didn’t use any make up during the shoots. He used only dhoti and a thread while doing any movies. He was appreciated for his notable performances were in Sharey Chuattor. He was seen in another memorable role in a Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen starrer where Chakraborty played a skeptical inn owner. He was living in poverty.
