He was born on 3 September 1926 and he died on 24 July 1980. He was an Indian film actor, director, producer, singer and music composer who predominantly worked in Bengali Cinema. He was known for his classic movies. He has worked as the ‘Mahanayak’. He was given the ‘National Film Award for Best Actor’. He was born in Kolkata. He completed his schooling from South Suburban School (Main), he went for higher studies in Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, a college affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
