Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Aalo (2003)

Aalo is a 2003 Indian Bengali family,musical film released on 2003. The film is directed by Tarun Majumdar, produced by Rituparna Sengupta , music composed by Rabindranath Tagore.

The story revolves around Aalo, a city bred girl from a highly cultured family, who migrates to a remote backward village after her marriage. She marries Shubhankar Chatterjee who is a professor. Shubhankar's mother wants her daughter-in-law to live in their village Nabadnagar. Thus Aalo goes to live in Nabadnagar. The people she encounters here particularly the women folk, are poverty stricken, superstitious, narrow minded and at times cruel. Aalo tries to live with them and wants to change their lives. Finally, Aalo suceeds in transforming the minds of the villagers particularly the minds of the women folk. Aalo dies but remains alive for the village women.
