Ami Aadu 2011

Ami Aadu is a 2011 Indian Bengali drama film released on Feb 25, 2011. The film is directed by Somnath Gupta, produced by New Theatres (P) Ltd..

Aadu, a girl from a Hindu Brahmin family falls in in love with Suleiman, a Muslim boy from a neigbouring village. Though both families are initially reluctant about their relationship, however later on everything goes well and they get married.

Suleiman wants to improve his lifestyle and wants to earn more money so he manages to go off to Iraq to earn a living with a couple of his friends.Aadu gets a tape recorder as a gift from her husband which becomes her constant companion.

America invades Iraq and war breaks out. There is no news of any of the guys including Suleiman. The families are glued to the television(Moinuddin is also glued to the transistor ) for any news related to them, but in vain.Aadu decides to write to George Bush and seeks his help. After seven months, Jabbar,one of the guys comes back and gives an audio cassette to Aadu.She comes to know the truth what she had been fearing so long-Suleiman had lost his right hand and even the third guy Swapan was no more.
