Aplam Chaplam is a 1961 Indian Bollywood comedy film released on 1961. The film is directed by Roop K. Shorey.
Aplam and Chaplam are friends. Due to the worlds unfairness, they become lovable criminals to lead their life. They are dodging evrybody with very cleverness and escape all their acts. . After some time they happen to pass through an orphnage where they come in contact with a beautiful girl Lajwanti. They bring to her to the city wit high hopes and assurances that they will make her a very big film artiste. They open a theatre where she gives dance performances and gets public applause. . During this period a young man Ramesh comes to the city from his village wit some money for business purposes. Here he comes in contact with these two crooks, Aplam and Chplam, and is fully in their trap and invest his money in the theatre. Ramesh and Lajwanti fall in love with each other. The croocks taking advantage of this situation run away with the theatre collections and leaving a misunderstanding in the mind of Ramesh that Lajwanti is Aplam-Chaplams partner and in this and Ramesh starting hating Lajwanti. But when Lajwanti comes to know about all this, just to exonerate herself from this charge, chases the crooks. . On the other hand, the wife of Bhirailal, aunt of Lajwanti, confesses at the time of her death that Lajwanti is alive, and she did not kill her but handed over Lajwanti it an orphange, which enrages Biharilal and who makes up his mind to finish her. Just to fulfil his object, he tries to take the help of Aplam and Chaplam and ultimately the crooks strike a bargain with Biharilal that they will hand over his niece to him. Ultimately wise councel prevails on the crooks and they take an oath and determine to save thelife of Lajwanti from the hands of Biharilal.
