Asha is a 1956 Indian Bengali drama,family,musical film released on 1956. The film is directed by Haridas Bhattacharya, music composed by Gyan Prakash Ghosh.

When Arup left from Shibsagar for Calcutta, he had only a reference letter from his teacher asking the famous musician Ratneswar Roy, to help Arup. But Ratneswar was of no help to Arup. But Ratneswar’s wife Purabi, a famous singer at one time came to know about this. However Arup took help from another famous singer - Prabhat Sen. With the help of Prabhat and his wife Krishna he managed to get a small house on Calcutta. From there he started his music. His neighbour Sandhya heard his music and got fascinated by him. Her music teacher Navin started cheating Arup's music by which he attained success.Purabi and Sandhya stood up against this injustice. Sandhya gave Arup shelter in her house, and after long twelve years Purabi announced that she would sing songs composed by Arup in the Nikhil Banga Sangeet Sammelan. This announcement led to misunderstandings between Purabi and Ratneswar. Purabi fell ill. She attended the music function and all was well again.
