Badi Maa is a 1945 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1945. The film is directed by Winayak, music composed by K. Dutta.
Vinayak was forced to make this war-effort movie to keep his company alive during WW2. Durgadas (Salvi) worries about his son Dinesh (Ishwarlal) who is in London during the Blitz. Moneylender Ghanshyam (Girish) agrees to write off a debt provided Durgadass daughter Usha (Meenakshi) marries his son Rajendra (Yakub), but Rajendra and the dancer Mona (Sitara Devi) are spies for the Japanese. When the Japenese attack the village of Dinapur, Rajendra becomes a patriot and fights for the Allied cause along with Dinesh. *.* In the village of Dinapur, Durgadas sits worrying about his son Dinesh who is studying in England . The war is raging in Europe and Durgadas has received news that London is being bombed frequently. In desperation he goes to the temple and prays to the goddess Durga for the well-being of his son. Taking a promise form the stone idol, he comes back home only to face the money-lender, Gnanshyam, waiting to throw him out of his home for his unpaid debts. . Ghanshyams young daughter Hema, homever,disapproves of her fathers unbending attitude towards Durgadas because she is secretly in lov with Dinesh. The only alternative Ghanshyam agrees to offer his debtor is that Durgadass daughter, Usha, should marry Ghanshyams son,Rajendra. But Rajendra is known to be spying for the Japanese with the help of his companion Mona,a dancer.Naturally, Durgadas find the idea of marrying his daughter to Rajendra abhorrent. . Dinesh comes home to discover that his father has lost all his propert and is a destitute, while the village has been under attack by the Japanese. As the agent of the Japanese, Rajendra is in charge of Dinapur and from his position of power, he seduces the innocent Usha. When the village is once again attacked, Usha falls a victim to enemy bullets, but before she dies, she pleads with Rajendra to reform and not allow the Japanese to take over her homeland. Moved by Ushas words, Rajendra repents and sacrifice his life for his country while resisting Japanese soldiers.
