Story

Bal Hatya is a 1935 Indian Bollywood costume film released on 1935. The film is directed by Ram Daryani.
In a fictious Rajput State, the arm of coincidence brings together Mohan-nephew and heir-apparent of the ruling Thakore returning home having completed the courese of his collegiate career and Champa-the motherless daughter of the faithful Royal Mali Pratab, visiting the Royal domain for the first time. Surya Kumari the young daughter of the Thakore, and Chand, the young son of Mali Pratab, who have both been playmates since childhood, are eagerly waiting their arrivals. . The vicious debauch of Thakore atonce spots the pretty damsel as the next victim of his unsatiable lust, and induces Mali Pratab to accede to hid demands, wich the brave Rajput resents with anger and enotion and braves imprisonment in a solitary cell. While Thakore is engaged with drink and debauch, his underlings lose no time to kidnap Champa and carry her away by force to the out-of-way citadel of Thakore; inspite of the brave struggles of the boy Chand. But the chaste Champa rises to the traditions of the Rajput Womanhood and prefers to face all the cruel tyrannies, tather than yield to the amours of the villian. . In the Palace however Surya Kumari has missed Chand at her usual rendezvous in the Garden and finds the entire family missing. With the help of the Prince Mohan and the faithful servant Balwant, she takes up the trail which leads them to her fathers citadel, where Thakore has resorted to ruthless persecutions in order to force the proud peasant girl to his arms. But alas! the help reaches too late. The Thakore, in a fit of passion aroused by the defiant heroism of the brave boy, has first blinded and then killed Chand whose body has been taken away to be thrown in far off jungles while Champa is yet desperately fighting to protect her honour. . Surya kumari is shocked to see the shady side of her loving father and to hear of the death of her beloved playmate. Heroically she releases Champa from the cruel clutches but the ghastly murder of her innocent brother has benumbed all her senses and she walks away mechanically. Mohan with his ideals of code of honour, finds it impossible to bear with his uncle and leaves the domain in disgust. . Meanwhile the prisoner Pratab manages, by a subterfuge to escape from the cell and comes across his daughter Champa who is half mad with grief. In a heart rending scene, the old man is apprised of the murder of his only son Chand. Bemumbed son who made the supreme sacrifice to save his sister from ignominy, now waiting and raving at the loss of his only son, he swears a terrible vendatta on the Thakore and his dynasty. . Time may pass: Tide may ebb; but the cherished memories she cannot forget! With the murder of Chand, Princess Surya has lost all interest in life and hates the very ground which her father treads on. On the other hand, Pratab has lived to his vow of Vendetta and is now a leader of a tremendous gang who are all sworn enemies of Thakore and his adherents. Even Mohan, disgusted with his uncle on the one hand, and lured by the innocent charms of Champa on the other has joined the band along with his faithful retainer Balwant. All the country side is held in awe of the gang, whose arms of revenge have reached even chiefs of the realm, and Surya Kumari is the next vitim. But Champa has not forgtten the service rendered to ber by this innocent daughter of the tyrant Thakore and she rises to the occcasion to pay back her deby of Rajput gratitude by saving her from tyrannies of the band. Thakore himself is lured to the den and the vendetta which Pratab seeks to take, sweet to his distorted mind is monstrous beyond measure Persuasions even of his own daughter Champa fall on deaf ears, for Pratab is no longer the faithful good hearted Rajput but now only an incarnation of revenge, revelling in his atrocities, cruel in act and deed, bereft of all reason and rhyme. . Surya Kumaris eyes are ordered to be taken out by the hands of her own brother Mohan in the presence of his kidnapped father Thakore, whose entreaties for mercy meet nought but mocking laughter and cynic remarks on the part of the captor Pratab. But Surya remains un-moved. Ungrudgingly resingns herself to her lot and feels that it is only a just nemesis. She is ready to pay for the sins of her father and is supremely happy that she awarded the same fate which was meted out to her beloved playmate Chand. . But the ways of god are great. In a secluded Rishi Ashram we find Chand blinded but living, though bereft of all memory, by the accident which fortunately had not proved fatal. The admiration of nature and the everlasting need for mercyto mankind is all that this blind boy believes in. Champa the identical name of a fragrant flower and his fair sister-is all that kindless emotion in his heart but who is Champa is more than his memory can recollect. . What happens then had better be seen on the silver screen in this amazingly intricate interesting and instructive Story fo "Bal Hatiya," or "Khune-Nahaq" where the prowess of patricians clashes in continued clash with the pride of plebians in a plot, full of powerful pathos and enchanting emotion relieved by dazzling dances, and melodious music frilled with fun and frolic. .
