Bari Taar Bangla 2013

Bari Taar Bangla is a 2013 Indian Bengali film released on 2013. The film is directed by Rangan Chakraborty.

Roopchand Sen, (Saswata Chatterjee) a man of around 40 suddenly discovers that he cannot write anything in Bangla (Bengali language) any more. Desperate to regain his abilities to write in Bangla, he
goes to a psychiatrist (Raima Sen). Tests show that does not seem to have any physiological problems that may cause any disability, it is a psychological problem. Through his narration of his life story to the
lady psychiatrist, we get to know the history of the times also. Roopchand was born in a middle-class family. His mother was very ambitious for his son. She tried to send him to an English medium school but since Roopchand started learning 4-letter words there, she got him out of that school. She then started teaching him Bangla with all her passion. She wanted him to be a successful Bangla copywriter
and do well in advertising and then move on to greater things like Satyajit Ray did. He was first in film making and then began a celebrated film-maker and author. Roopchand became a successful copywriter in Bangla but then the industrial situation was so bad in the state that the accounts of the ad agency started moving out to other cities and Roopchand lost his job. He then started earning some money by doing small assignments. His went into severe depression and she committed suicide. Roopchand’s father was a left wing political worker. His party needed an election campaign. Roopchand wrote a campaign for them and they won the elections. They stayed in power for quite some time but then became too violent and were voted out. During this period, Roopchand was the ‘poet laureate’ excepting the last phase when the party in power opted for the language of violence and Roopchand was redundant. The new party that came to power also commissioned Roopchand for their campaign. But after victory this party too started oppression on poor people. Roopchand had a fall out with them. After that Roopchand found that he could not write any more. He had got so used to writing to someone’s brief that he could not write anything by himself. Will Roopchand get back his power to
