Basti is a 2003 Indian Bollywood action, crime film released on Aug 08, 2003. The film is directed by Tarun Wadhwa, produced by Basharat Khan , music composed by Milind Sagar.
Bombay city's slums are due for a change at the hands of builder Karanjia, but a criminal, Kanta, forces for a price that is too huge, leading to Karanjia selection of Ramesh Kulkarni and some of his buddies, paying them, and loading them with weapons to fight it out with Kanta's gang. This leads to a big war, and Kanta's boys are hushed. Then Kanta gets collaborated with a corrupt Minister and the Police Commissioner, and they plan Hindu-Muslim wars, which leads to the death of Ramesh. Angered at this, Ramesh's quiet and kind-hearted brother takes over, and the fight still continues. To make case worse, Satish's unmarried sister gets fecund, and commits suicide. In a suicide note she writes the Police Commissioner and the Minister who raped her. Not able to bear the loss of his son daughter, Vinayak, dies. Satish now has three funerals in a very short while, and goes about his duty of revenge - until he examines that he is being used as a collateral by Karanjia - and that he is on the search of the police, Kanta as well as Karanjia's gang - and he has no place to hide.
