A sea of people would make themselves comfortable outside the theatre premises on Sunday night itself, although the advance booking counters would open only on Monday morning. Amitabh Bachchan is a superhero.' I used to believe that, growing up. Comicbooks called Supremo said he was, and I gladly bought into the idea of this man who acted in movies by day and went off to rescue kidnapped younglings by night. It only worked because it was Bachchan, of course. When we watched Hindi movies on video cassettes, Dad would fast-forward the songs while Mom would avenge herself by skipping through the protracted fight sequences

There’s a cop, an ex-wife, a groupie, assorted mafioso, the cop’s girl, a nosy landlady, a bizarrely brutal father, yadda yadda yadda. It’s all utterly unnecessary, except to give the viewer a mild respite from Bachchan-gazing.

On the whole, BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP is a must-watch for Bachchan fans. Even if you’re not a fan of this iconic actor, watch it for a simple reason: They don’t make them like Amitabh Bachchan anymore. A masala entertainer all the way, BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP may get affected by the omnipotent and unstoppable DELHI BELLY and TRANSFORMERS wave on Friday [although single screens would perform better than plexes], but the business should multiply on Saturday and Sunday due to Bachchan’s bravura act and rock-solid post-interval portions. The producers [A.B. Corp, Viacom18] have already recovered the cost of production by selling the Satellite rights for a hefty sum and recovering the balance amount [P&A] from theatrical business should be a cakewalk, ensuring good profits to the investors in the final tally.

BBUDDAH is purely for Amitabh Bachchan fans. A standing ovation for Amitabh Bachchan for a towering performance yet again. This man is magical! He once again proves age is no bar if a person is willing to do something. Bachchan’s dynamism, his indomitable spirit and energy levels, make BBUDDAH an interesting fare.

Don't go by the title of this film. Surely, this must be one of the worst titles of any Amitabh starrer... even Lal Baadshah was a few shades better. Look beyond the misleading pulp fiction title and you will end up savouring a film which amply proves why Bachchan has remained the ultimate showman that the Indian film industry has ever produced. No, this isn't Bachchan's best and may not compare with his classics -- and we don't need to name them here

Way to go Mr Bachchan. We always maintained you were the best. Of course, the film has its loose and superfluous moments, but those are easily ignored.

A message at the end of BHTB reads “…we missed you as the angry young man.” Considering this film is produced by AB Corp, there is something inherently dubious when a man pays tribute to his own younger self. Does someone, whose acclaimed and endless filmography as leading man will withstand the test of time without such in-your-face reminders, really need this? Every once in a while Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap makes a half-hearted attempt to be a real movie about underworld dons, bombs and a terrorised Mumbai; about saffron swamis and their evil empires; about a gangster father, a cop son, and an estranged couple. But it really is something else. Bbuddah Hoga... is Amitabh Bachchan porn, X-rated. The film contains content that is not suitable for non-fans.

This one's larger than life. Totally expected from Puri Jagannadh (Wanted), who like some of his other south Indian colleagues, believes in building heroes, who tower above mere mortals. With Buddah, he didn't have to try too hard. He has to elevate a close to 70 legend, with an insatiable zest for life and is a treasure house of talent to a superhero's position, his job becomes all the more easier. It all started a couple of years back when Salman Khan's action flick Wanted brought back the angry-young-man into fashion. Perhaps that triggered the original claimant of the title to regain his angry-young-man image. So Amitabh Bachchan got the director of the original of Wanted ( Pokiri ) to make a full-blown action flick with him. It isn't surprising then that Big B got what he 'wanted'. You decide which part of the duniya you’re part of. We love the angry young man of the 70s and 80s. Bachchan saab, aaj khush toh bahut hoge tum, but this angry, wanna-be buddah does not make us feel the same.

You may have seen this bizarreness in the promos. Describing his relationship with Mumbai, “We’ve gotten wet in the rains together,” Amitabh Bachchan’s Vijju (or is it Birju, Bijju, Virju?), a poor parody of his old self, says: These days, newbies ("naya bachcha log”) copy my style, my songs… He then breaks into Khaike paan Banaraswala, which is of course from Don, recently remade with Shah Rukh Khan in the central role. Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap' is positioned as the ultimate wet-dream for Amitabh Bachchan fans. Indeed it's a loving showcase for the almost 69-year-old actor who gets to demonstrate to the world that he can still sing and dance and beat up the bad guys in style. (Not that we needed any convincing). The film's director, Puri Jagannadh admits in the closing credits that the film's been made by a fan, and is meant especially for fans of the evergreen superstar

In the climax, Amitabh Bachchan, a killer on hire, turns the gun on his own gang of baddies, duping them into believing that it is the cops who are plucking them out one by one. He plants a bullet in the back of one, tosses a dynamite from one window to the adjacent one, fools a goon into handing him a loaded pistol only to have his brains blown out the next moment....Off-screen, that is what Bachchan has been doing over the past few years

If ‘Bbuddah’ proves something, it is that there has never been star-actor to fill the Bachchan shaped hole his getting silver has caused. No one delivers dialogue (never just lines, okay?) with such impeccable timing as he does; and as to romance, well, just look at him look at Hema.
