Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Bordidi (1939)
Suven left his home. Before leaving he wrote a letter to his mother stating that he would earn money for his trip to England. In Calcutta he got the job of teaching Brajaraj Lahiri's youngest daughter Pramila. The Lahiri household was controlled by Madhabi, the eldest daughter of Brajaraj. Madhabi was a young widow. Everybody called her Baradidi (Elder sister). She fell in love with Suven. Manorama wrote a letter of cautionary advice to Madhabi. Madhabi left for Kashi. There she received a letter from Pramila. Pramila requested her to come back immediately as Suven had taken ill. Madhabi came back to Calcutta but she was in a dilemma. On one hand there was her love, and on the other hand there was her duty. So she asked Suven to leave. Five years passed. Suven became the zamindar of Latta. He was married to Santi but he could not forget Madhabi. After Brajaraj's death Madhabi was slightly releaved from her family duties. She went to Latta's village where her husband had a house. One day Suven found that due to non-submission of tax for a long time the house of some Madhabi Devi had been auctioned. The name struck Suven. He started inquires about this Madhabi and he was informed that she was the daughter of Brajraj Lahiri. Suven started searching for her. After reaching Latta village he came to know that Madhabi had already left. Suven had fallen ill because of this long journey. He started vomitting blood. When he was able to reach Madhabi's boat he was on his death-bed. He confessed his love before breathing his last.
