You know that thing called 'thay-ter' - where people go on stage, speak really loudly, open their eyes wide and laugh uproariously to make their point? Well, 'thay-ter' can be good - but transported to cinema, it can stretch a bit thin. And feature some awkward moments - of which Bumboo has a few. A word you'd normally hesitate to use in polite company, this mad comedy, inspired by French film L'Emmerdeur, pluckily features no big stars

The good thing about ‘Bumboo’ is its climax. You can certainly laugh towards the end. And yes, Mika Singh’s song during the credits is worth dancing.Message of the film fails to reach the spectator because Sanjay Mishra gives a really long ‘speech’ before coming to the crux of the matter.’Bumboo’ is a film made with good intentions but somehow the makers couldn’t transform the original idea onto the celluloid. You can always watch ‘Bumboo’ to support the storytellers who dare to go against the established market norms.

When it ends, you know where the Bumboo lands! The credit for the story and writing goes to Francis Veber. One glance on the internet and this French gentleman's name throws up an impressive, detailed list as producer, screenwriter and director. So how did he get bumbooed with this script

Remade from a 1973 French play and film ' L'emmerdeur' which was released in English as 'A Pain in the A**', the makers seemed too tempted to title the film as ' Bumboo' - that literally implies getting screwed in life. Going by the Hindi title, one would assume that the characters in the film are stuck in tricky situations. But soon enough one realizes that it's actually the viewer who has landed himself into a situation and their only response to the film
