Chhaya is a 1961 Indian Bollywood romance, musical, social film released on Jan 01, 1961. The film is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, produced by A. V. M under banner named A. V. M. Productions, music composed by Salil Chowdhury.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee has a different story this time. Manorama, a widow leaves her daughter at doorsteps of Seth Jagat Narayan & from the next day she joins the house as a maid. Her daughter calls her aaya & even though Manorama tries very hard to make Sarita call her mom till Sarita's new teacher Arun asks Sarita one day to call her Maa. Slowly Sarita & Arun start liking each other. But Jagat Narayan has a problem with the marriage. Due to difference of standards. But Manorama pleads with Jagat Narayan to let Sarita get married to Arun. Fate takes its own dramatic turns to open the secret that Manorama is actually Sarita's mom.
