The narrative hinges itself on satire, however, the melodrama towards the end dilutes the humour; that could have been avoided. That apart, Ritesh Menon’s direction is confident and his portrayal of characters, engaging. Kudos to the editing team for keeping the film under two hours, a minute more and it could have easily flown off the rails. But overall Crazy Cukkad Family manages to be a decent balance of chuckles, LOLs and WTFs.

Crazy Cukkad Family is definitely not one of the best comedies but of course you could go and watch it once for the sake of strong performances that have miserably drowned in this lame plot!

A tragicomedy of sorts, the film revolves around four estranged siblings of the Beri parivar, who unwillingly unite in order to get their share of property from their dying father.

Even though this is Ritesh Menon’s debut film, the film looks promising in parts. While he succeeds in keeping the first half of the film tight, it’s the wavering second half that acts as a disjoint to the film’s flow. The film could have been made a bit stronger in its direction. Even if he had changed the (bizarre) climax into a more believable one, things would have been a bit different.

Sadly the humour is decidedly more dead in Crazy Kukkad Family than the patriarch who just refuses to die. The writing could have done with less lungs and more brains. This is one crazy family we don’t want to run into .

Crazy Cukkad Family lacks freshness and is a rework of many Bollywood films. You may like it in bits and pieces, but overall it’s just an average film.

Crazy Cukkad Family has no dearth of crazy characters, but they simply aren’t zany enough…A wild goose chase is always avoidable, especially when it assumes the form of a full-fledged film.

…ripe for black humour, and a sharp comedy of manners. There are moments when the film seems to get it, but then squanders the chance, and gets back to being broad and obvious. And dull.

A comedy is supposed to make you laugh. If it does that in abundance, all other cinema sins can be forgiven. Even though CCF does well in the raising laughs department, its just not consistent enough. There’s ample supply of craziness here. If only it were presented in a more aesthetic and artistic manner.

Crazy Cukkad Family is entertaining, no doubt, but at the end of the day, it appears like a nice television serial. Lack of face value and the poor opening will do the film in. Its commercial prospects are very dull.

After showing signs of digging into the innards of middle class family values by putting a gay couple and an item girl from a rural background in the mix, Ritesh resorts to the safety of slapstick and happy ending, and when one begins to see the Priyadarshan-like family hungama from a distance, the craziness begins to wane.

The title ‘Crazy Cukkad’ is sufficient to explain the story. This film is more on the ‘ages theory’. A ctually, there was a time when the audiences loved to watch the family based melodramas together, but not this time. Things have changed and so has the potentials of the audiences to go deeper into something has turned prolific. Considering the same theme that there is a head of the family and after he dies, his children work on getting his ‘will’ for their own evil or ethical purposes. I mean, today is the age of experimenting and coming up with something very challenging yet very productive. Showing the same things again and again won’t really work. The film has many basic glitches, which leave the audiences half-rotten. The dialogues written are overcooked. The dressing traits in the movie makes you laugh at times. Every character in the film starts creating twists and tries to dump you with melodramas. What is the need of doing this? The songs in the middle of the story makes you lose all the charm of the movie. The audiences don’t feel connected with the story. Yes, if you are watching the film just for the sake of entertainment, then please drop the idea of watching a film with melodramas. Better think of watching ‘Baghban’ or ‘Avatar’ at your own place, why to spend money going in theaters? The movie is as crazy as the title says. This film is more on struggling problems and the conventional curves that follow at every segment of the story. Somewhere, the film’s bottom line is also homosexuality, which may is a plus point. But as an audience, there is nothing new in the story which keeps you engaging.
