Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Deep Jwele Jai (1959)
This is the a moving story of Radha, a nurse in a clinic that treats the mentally ill. Col Mitter, who runs the clinic, thinks that the best way to recover the mentally ill patients is through love and care. He asks Radha to pretend to be in love with the patients and then help them recover. The first succesful case is that of Debashish. But when Debashish recovers we find that Radha had actually fallen in love with him. After he recovers, he does not remember her and he gets married. Radha hides her true feelings. Tapas, another patient comes to the clinic after geing deserted by his fiance. Radha refuses to be a part of the act again, but is slowly pulled into it. Gradually, with her love and affection, Tapas starts improving and ultimately recovers fully. Tapas loves Radha, but she is bound by duty tries to avoid him. She requests the colonel not let the now fully fit Tapas meet her. Tapas searches frantically for her. Hearing that she is in her room he goes and calls out to her, but she tells him that she was only acting with him. Tapas is pulled away and a heartbroken Radha becomes insane and is taken in as another inmate of the asylum.
