Desher Mati is a 1938 Indian Bengali drama,patriotic film released on Aug 17, 1938. The film is directed by Nitin Bose, produced by B. N. Sircar under banner named New Theatres (P) Ltd., music composed by Pankaj Kumar Mallick.

One society of the village Purandarpur village out casted Kunja Thakur for not arranging marriage of her daughter. The head of the story of the society of was Jadu Chakraborty. Kunja Thakur fell in deep trouble. Ajay and Ashok were two close friends. Ajay was rich and Ashoke was poor. In Ajay's family there was his sister Aruna, cousin brother Sashadhar and one secretary. Ajay and Ashoke's earlier decision was to go to U.K for higher education. But Ashok changed his decision he wanted to go back to his village. Ultimately he did that. He reached his village Purandarpur along with one doctor, one lawyer and one businessman. Ashok wanted to start cultivation. But Jadu Chakraborty did not cooperate with them. At that time Kunja Thakur came forward and wanted to offer them land and other accessories to cultivate. As they didn't know how to cultivate, they were unable to produce anything. Kunja Thakur told them to bring cultivators from outside, and for that money was needed. Ashok went to Calcutta to arrange money, but Ajay in the mean time had left for U.K, Aruna wanted to give money, but Ashoke did not take that. But Aruna secretly sent money to Sashadhar. Gouri also wanted to help Ashoke. Due to hard work Kunja Thakur's field was full of more than enough grains. Jadu Chakraborty's people did not get much, so they realized their mistakes.
