Dharavi is a 1991 Indian Bollywood thriller, action film released on 1991. The film is directed by Sudhir Mishra. Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia, holds over a million people living in sub-human conditions in a world bereft of a social conscience where they are nothing more than cheap labour. Each individual has a dream of making it big, a dream fuelled by the glamour and affluence of the mother-city Bombay as also the popular film fantasies churned out by the dozen. This is the story of one such inhabitant of Dharavi: Rajkiran Yadav who operates a taxi but dreams of owning a dye factory. His wifes brother in an activist who works for the slum people and tries to organise them politically. This brings him in direct confrontation with the criminal underworld which rules Dharavi. Yadav is sucked into this world when he borrows some money and is eventually forced to participate in a gangland killing. Sickened, his wife leaves him for her previous husband.
