Comedy is serious business and I genuinely believe that making people laugh is an arduous task. The best of film-makers, with years/decades of experience behind them, have tried attempting laughathons time and again. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. HELLO DARLING also tries to tickle your funny bone, but in vain. Frankly, the story of a sex pervert and three alluring ladies could've resulted in one naughty film.

It is pitched as a sex comedy. But it offers neither. Hello Darling, directed by debutant Manoj Tiwari, is the kind of film that is a veritable test of the viewer's patience. There are films that are overly pretentious and put too much pressure on one's powers of comprehension. And then are those that are completely brainless and make no demands at all on the moviegoer's faculties. Hello Darling is a 'rare', indescribable concoction: it is at once mindless and pretentious.

For a cast comprising comedy veterans, Hello Darling is a dud that neither amuses nor irks you. It simply gnaws at you that a film as imbecilic as this one could even be screened before the public. At every stage, the content of the film degenerates from silly to mindless to sheer daft. With a concept as profound as sexual harassment at the workplace, the film could have done wonders had it been armed with a creative script and inventive acting

Comedy or a spoof or a farce, whatever the director was aiming at is ideally meant to have you falling out of your seat with laughter. Now that is a target very few succeed in achieving. But one would believe with a decent script you would at least smile a few times through the film. Or maybe even manage a giggle here and there. In Hello Darling all the audience could be heard doing was gnashing their teeth in anger. The film is like a badly cooked stew
