HEROPANTI is designed as a launch pad for Tiger Shroff and it gives him ample opportunity to prove his credentials in his debut film. The good news is, he delivers a striking performance. Additionally, what works is the masala quotient — melodrama, music and action. An entertainer that hits the right notes!

Hero-panti is a full-on paisa vasool Sajid Nadiadwala entertainer. It doesn’t quite measure up to the requirements of the theme of honour killing that it so valiantly puts forward. But as a masala entertainer that has more to say than one would expect from a film of this nature Hero-panti gets its fundas right.

Overall, Heropanti is like any other massy entertainer. If you have no plans this weekend, then you can watch this one with your family. But don’t expect much and you’ll be pleased.

Sadly the film doesn’t do justice to both the newcomers. Nothing unique about the screenplay. Ordinary direction. It’s a long time since this kind of lover story has been seen on the screen. Just when you thought that the formula had been forgotten Heropanti tries to revives it. Tiger shows huge potential in action and dance but director fails to exploit it fully. Watch it for the newcomers.

Culminating in a Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge-inspired climax, the film’s conflict is quickly resolved, but not before someone conveniently rips the shirt off Tiger’s back for a glimpse of his rock-hard abs. Subtlety is not this film’s strength. Newcomer Kriti Sanon looks lovely and makes an impression despite her harebrained role. We’ll just have to see both these kids in better films to give them a fair chance.

Heropanti is designed to do exactly one thing – make us like Tiger Shroff and that it does exceedingly well. The film is a showcase for Tiger’s talents – he is an incredible acrobat who does backflips in dance sequences and effortlessly leaps offs walls in action scenes. He is a smooth dancer. I can’t wait to see what he does next. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Heropanti’s sole purpose is to let us know there’s a new actor on the entertainment scene. Nothing about Heropanti is fresh or clever. Saddled with a pedestrian setup, ghastly writing, old-fashioned treatment, tacky styling and uninspiring co-stars, Tiger has little going in his favour. And the way I see it, he could not have asked for a shoddier launch. Yet somehow beneath the pin-up torso, the soulful eyes and an awkward smile — a genuine, graceful, likeable boy comes through.

As a film, HEROPANTI is a disaster. It looks good and has a good line-up of character actors. But sadly the script flounders from the beginning. If it has any semblance of sanity it is thanks to these support actors that prop the falling plot. The entire clan headed by Prakash Raj, who go bang, bang with the slightest of provocation hold their own, in their own bizarre fashion.

In a nut shell, the movie Heropanti is not just an ideal debut for both Tiger and Kriti, while it’s most likely to leave the audience with the question, “What was so heroic in Heropanti?”

Heropanti has its drawbacks but manages to hold the audience in the second half. And more importantly, it does spring two talents to look out for. Tiger, with his innocent looks, should work well with the girls while he could be a valid action star. He may not have his father’s voice but he has his style for sure. It would be up to him to make the right moves from here.

Not that one was expecting great shakes from a film called Heropanti. But, that the makers, with a 100% fresh starcast don’t even attempt to break any mould is disheartening. In fact, they try to milk the popularity of a 20-year old film. Just sad.

Over all, one might be confused if director Sabbir Khan intended to make a spoof or a film. Go for it, if you are in the mood for cheap thrills.

Over all, Heropanti is an amusing yet bland modification of the classic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey, featuring some of the most fake Haryanvi accents this North Indian has ever heard. The film could do with more action and less drama. The most masala-less masala movie I’ve watched in a while.

Ultimately, Heropanti becomes all about Shroff’s athletic ability and has little to do with his acting ones.

Watch this film if you don’t have anything to do this weekend. We suggest you to save your hard earned money for better films.

The only bright spark comes from Sunil Grover’s humorous cameo where he easily steals the show. Heropanti is clearly a film that you should not watch. It is nothing but zeropanti.

I understand the need to market this film as an oldschool launch vehicle, but I have a question for the producers: Is ‘Heropanti’ the real phrase that comes to your mind when unsuspecting viewers buy tickets to watch your film?

Boy looks at girl. Boy falls for girl. Girl’s father growls. Boy scowls. Girl howls. And I’m left sobbing into my popcorn.

Heropanti could be a one-time watch if you find kids who don’t really know what they are up to and yet act too smart cute. Yes, Tiger gives you that feeling.

‘Heropanti’ is a quintessential Bollywood romance, where lovers have to fight the society, angry uncles and dominating fathers, who give love a bad name, to win over their ladylove.

The best thing that could be said about Heropanti is that it is not as terrible as Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar films. The second best thing about it is that Tiger Shroff may be effeminate, but he’s a likable guy who can do some truly amazing stunts.

If this movie was an all-out actioner like ‘Raid’ or any of the Bruce Lee, kung-fu, Karate movies, it would have been a dream debut at least for Tiger. ‘Heropanti’ as is, where is, just doesn’t engage or entertain, sorry to say!

On the whole, Heropanti is a surefire hit.

Several leading men before Shroff have boosted their careers by building up body mass and appearing in movies with plots as profound as a gym manual, but they were fortunate enough to have a smart screenplay, crackling dialogue writers and a popular soundtrack. All of the above are absent in Heropanti, resulting in a 146-minute tour of incompetence.

Time-pass, if you are desperate enough.

But thanks to a taut screenplay (credited to Bhaskar) and direction (Sabbir Khan of Kambakkth Ishq) Heropanti rises above the clichés, despite the two-decade-old plot of manufacturing consent from the father instead of just running away with his daughter, as characters remain largely true to the type until the very end (when the entire honour-killing endorsing community conveniently undergoes an instant change of heart.)
