Hey Ram is a 2000 Indian Bollywood drama,historical film released on Feb 18, 2000. The film is directed by Kamal Haasan, produced by Kamal Haasan , music composed by Illayaraja.
This is the story of Saket who is actually on his death bed. He recollects his era when he is at the mid of his 40s. Saket Ram’s best friend is Amjad Khan who was an archaeologist. Both of them were working together and in the Mohenjo-daro project (Indus Valley Civilization) in Karachi. Both of them were in opposition of the partition process. Aparna Ram was his Bengali wife and she was teaching in the school. Then one day, he is called for a direct action and he leaves for Calcutta. After returning back, he finds that his wife was been murdered and raped by Muslims. So, he kills all of them, but he couldn’t save his wife. There is another Hindu known as Shriram Abhyankar who also fights with the Muslims on the same issues. He was in opposition of Gandhiji who wanted to give Pakistan 62 Crores on partition. Ram’s family forces him for the second marriage and then he gets married to Mythili. One day, he becomes friends with Abhyankar and he joins in his movement of killing Gandhiji. But after this, Abhyankar dies and he goes to kill Ganhiji. Later, it is seen that Amjad also dies and Gandhiji is also killed by Nathuram Godse. But, Gandiji’s last words are ’hey ram’.
