The director of 'Housefull-2' is in love with the movies - especially 1970s Bollywood, all disco-balls, leering villains and hard-chested heroes. Housefull-2 is a bag of laughs with eye-candy - Akshay in linens, Jacqueline in minis - and some crackling performances. Mithun commands with sheer presence while the climax belongs to rip-roaring Lever. Riteish plays 'helpless' with flair while a guest scene by '70s veteran Ranjeet - "From rapist to therapist" - provides a vibrant stroke of colour on this house-wall. Abraham manages the muscle-man while Malaika Arora Khan sizzles in 'Anarkali Disco Chali' - and an oomphy little scenario later. But the film belongs to Akshay Kumar who carries off a sharp suit and 'jhaari-mein-chalein' jokes with glossy aplomb. And to Sajid Khan who, despite a smorgasbord of stars, ensures one prevails - the mad storyline.

On the whole, HOUSEFULL 2 is a madcap entertainer that gets the viewer giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in his seat and you completely savor the fact that the spectators parked around you too are utterly engaged in the chaos and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then HOUSEFULL 2 is especially designed for you.

On the whole, Housefull 2 is an entertaining fare. It could have been better, but one can’t really complain as one comes out of the theatre smiling. It will do very good business at the box-office.

Don't go looking for a masterpiece; HOUSEFULL 2 delivers what it promises. Having said that, if the editing was a little sharper, 20 minutes snipped off would have made this film even more hilarious.

This Sajid Khan film is certainly not for people who feel cinema needs to be driven by quality content and logic. Then, we are sorry to keep away from this film. But if you are someone who likes to chortle even for no reason or someone who believes in keeping the brains off while entering a cinema hall, then ‘Housefull 2’ is the right thing for you. Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break.

In a scene towards the latter half of the film, Riteish Deshmukh uses a flowchart to explain who's who, who's posing as who and who's being assumed as who in film. If this confuses you, that's precisely what director Sajid Khan intends to do. If you can't convince them, confuse them is what he believes in. At instances, his film makes you laugh out loud, and at other instances it's so loud that you want to cry. So how's the film in totality?

So what’s Housefull 2 about? Wrong question. Beyond a point, it’s only about keeping the embers of satire alive by hook or by over-cook. Somewhere down line the witticism wears thin. But there are comic actors of terrific aptitude holding aloft the thinner segments in the farcical fabric.

Years ago, Karan Johar had joked that the credits in his films could be somewhat altered - instead of saying 'A film by Karan Johar,' it could say 'The same film by Karan Johar.' I think this would work well for Sajid Khan. Irrespective of what you think of the man and his cinema, you must admire his consistency. Housefull 2 has exactly the same mix of stars, foreign locations, farcical plot and spectacularly dim-witted comedy as the first Housefull

You know that feeling when you watch something and you know that you have seen it before but can’t immediately place where. Yes, yes that deja vu moment. In Housefull 2 you have that feeling every five minutes. You know why? Because you were served the same joke five minutes back and it was such a lame joke, you can’t even remember it! Ayeeeeee! Sajid bhai, kyun thak raha hai? Biggest hit? Sic. We really don’t know how else to define a film

The movie is definitely not a laugh-riot, but it doesn’t fail to bring out chuckles in bits. In various parts, the director has tried very hard to force a laugh, but fails to bring out even a smile. The first half is fun, yet disappointing for a movie that promises to be a hilarious hoopla. The second half starts with entertaining portions, but the excitement takes a back seat as it proceeds. The climax is stretched, yet acceptably amusing in parts. Infused in generous portions are action sequences which are more entertaining than the comedy.

But what can I say? I was surrounded by a hall where the audience was in splits and little children-why do parents do this to their offspring?-were copying Akshay's orgasmic style. It can only happen in India. A bare bum scene in The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo will be cut though it had an A certificate but a film like Housefull 2 with its gay jokes and sex talk (including a scene where a python attacks Shreyas Talpade's crotch and we're meant to laugh) will be a family favourite.

My rating might confuse you a little considering I have not really said many positive things about this movie. But here’s the fact: whether you like this movie or not definitely depends on where you see it and with whom. If you watch this in a multiplex, you might want to find Sajid and strangle him. But if you watch this a theatre with the ‘mass’ crowd with a group of friends – like I did – after a stressful day, you might end up enjoying this brainless caper.

Sajid Khan has already declared (at every opportunity he’s had) across all media that he doesn’t care what critics have to say about his film. That this is a film for the audiences. That they will make it a hit, the likes of which the actors involved have never seen before. If cinema to you is about tickling crocodiles on sleeping pills, background sound effects so loud they drown out the dialogue and threaten to puncture your eardrums, and 12 actors

Several times in 'Housefull 2', random characters laugh at their own jokes and sing out: sense of huuuuumour. It pretty much says everything about the film, a sequel to the film of the same name which came out two years ago. You have to be able to find the doings of this vast cast amusing. And if you don’t, you have to be able to summon your funny bone to keep sitting, while pondering the cosmic corniness of the world according to Sajid Khan

It's ironic that the funniest joke in Housefull 2 should appear after the film has ended. In the outtakes during the closing credits sequence (if you’re brave enough to still be watching!), Akshay Kumar brings Asin to meet his father, a sleazy shrink named Dr Ranjeet Vasna K Pujari, played by yesteryears villain Ranjeet. Inching towards the girl, unbuttoning his satin black shirt, the leering senior mutters salaciously: "Baby, baby, baby!"

There's a little glimpse of Raj in every Kapoor. Over the years, as Shammi and Shashi developed their own styles, as Randhir harmlessly tickled, while Rishi revolutionised young romance and as Ranbir continues to blaze his town trail, the men in the family have often showed off momentary, unmistakable flashes of Raj. Sajid Khan's new film reunites Randhir and Rishi, putting them in derby hats and preposterous bowties, giving them horrible lines

What indeed! Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2 also gets into sandaas, burps, stinks and sour belches. Truly this purported situational comedy relies so much on toilet humour that it’s likely to leave your tummy rumbling. Sorry this isn’t cinema, here’s just another execrable, knockabout farce hacked out by a director who may score a hit, and then trot out half a dozen interviews, guffawing, 'Who cares about the critics?' with the shallow addendum, “I make movies for the masses.” Yeah right, good luck Mr. Khan with your mission:*2#*!

Housefull 2 is shamefully bad. So bad that Ranjeet – the rapey villain of yore – who appears in one scene, is the most dignified thing about the film.
