Story

Jalianwala Baag Ki Jyoti is a 1953 Indian Bollywood historical film released on 1953. The film is directed by R. S. Choudhary.
Jalianwala Baag unfolds a drama enacted during the British Raj in thousands of families in this country, it is a tale of woe and there is hardly a family, hamlet, village, town, or city in our beloved land which has not suffered in some way or the other. It is the story of a new ideology which had captured the hearts of millions of sons and daughters of this land. A robustand fresh wave of nationalism was fast sweeping the sands of this sub-continent and the brutal and inhuman acts of vandalism of certain misguided British, Officer helped to fan the fire of nationalism which kindled the hearts of millions of young men and women. . As a bi-product of the British Rule a class of henchmen, who basked in the sunshine of Imperial favours, had grown up. This class included the courtiers, title holders, and Government contractors who had fed themselves fat on the sweat of the common man. . Our story is the story of two families, the younger generations of which were inspired by the gospel taught by the Father of the Nation. They had learned the lessons of Satyagrah and sacrifice to break the shackles of slavery. Their hearts yearned to breathe the fresh and healthy air of freedom. . Lata Labhuram, a contractor, got through the good offices of a henchman of the British Bureaucracy, a Rai Bahadur, a contract, for constructing a road. His son Jaipal, a thoroughbred nationalist, detesed his fathers Ji Huzuri to the Sarkar, but his younger brother, a boy hardly seven years old, cherished an ambition to become one day the Bara-Saheb. Their mother was torn between two loyalties-to her husband and to her son-and felt most wretched, but ultimately her love and loyalty to her country triumphed. . The Rai Bhadur who thrived on the tea and dance parties thrown to the officials and who helped the Goverment in the War Effort by raising men and an only daughter Damyanti, who was also inspired by national sentiments more specially because of her love towards Jaipal . Lala Labhuram got the contract all rolled in wealth. As is natural, all vices follow in the wake of ill-gotten wealth and Lalaji fell a prey to the charms of a dancing girl. The two families passed through various vicissitudes. Because of their recalcitrant children they incurred the disfavour of their British masters, and their children rotted in the Brithish Jails. The horrors of massacre of Jalianwala Baag are matters of not remote history. . Jalian wala Baag is only one out of the several dark pages of the history of the Brithish Rule in India. The crawling order and the general massacre are hair raising and blood-curdling incidents and the story of Lala Labhuram is symbolic of the several of the type of Jalianwala Baag. But it is without malice to the Britishers as a nation. Check out this page for more updates on Jalianwala Baag Ki Jyoti.
