Jannat 2 follows the basic template of a small-time crook trying to reform himself when he falls in love. So the narrative primarily is a love story playing simultaneously alongside a crime-drama, both consequential of each other. But while the crime backdrop is reasonably riveting, the romance track is dull and deterrent to the drama. With a gripping first half and a slightly dragging second one, Jannat 2 has its share of pluses and minuses. My suggestion? Go watch this for the wonderful performances of Emraan and Randeep.

First things first. Jannat 2 isn’t a sequel to Jannat. If that was about match-fixing, this is about arms smuggling. The only common links? Leading man Emraan Hashmi and director Kunal Deshmukh. And since Hashmi was bumped off at the end of Part I, there isn’t much likelihood of him coming back to the same film. No, there isn’t a humshakal or a long-lost brother angle here. Should we be thankful for that? Well…For Jannat 2, the Bhatt brothers raid the DVD racks yet again

Kunal Deshmukh's JANNAT 2 can be best described as patchy. The storyline lacks imagination and given this backdrop, he tries his best to weave a plot into the scenes. He succeeds mainly because there's Randeep Hooda, Bollywood's most underrated actor, who stands tall among the ruins. Take his character out of the film and you have nothing left. Such is the impact he has on the film. The weak link in the plot is the love story between Emraan Hashmi and new comer Esha Gupta

In the first scene of Jannat 2, a small-time crook is cornered by an angry creditor in an Old Delhi gali. The creditor pulls a gun on him, but our hero isn’t scared in the least. He takes one look at the weapon being aimed at him, dismisses its low quality in impressive detail, and before you know it, has managed to sell the man his own (far cooler) gun – making a neat getaway and a profit. The sequel of the 2008 film Jannat, the film is a predictable, yet partly gripping tale of a small-time brat who faces the results of his own deeds.Although the plot is calculable, the swift narrative manages to squeeze out humdrum portions. The movie had a prospect of being more engaging if the director would have invested some extra action sequences.Overall, the portrayal of this foreseeable plot is appealing in parts. Jannat 2 is worth a one-time watch, since there aren’t many options for the movie-goers this weekend.

All through ‘Jannat 2’, it seems as if Nicolas Cage’s ‘Lord of War’ is present somewhere in the background. The film revolves around the hitherto unexplored-in-Bollywood territory of arms trafficking, and doesn’t qualify as anything but absolutely average.Watch ‘Jannat 2’ for its catchy numbers (better still, buy a CD!). And since there aren’t many options this weekend, you can count that as a reason to go watch the movie!Ratings: Two cheers for this one!

Don’t be fooled. This is not a sequel to 'Jannat’, in which match-fixing shenanigans in high profile cricket matches gave Emran Hashmi and Kunal Deshmukh a fertile hunting ground, and us a watchable film. 'Jannat 2’ is, for the most part, a badly-done, badly-acted enterprise, lifted only a notch by a couple of performances. In this one, Hashmi goes by the elongated name of Sonu Dilli, Kutti Kameeni Cheez. The tag should give you an idea of the kind of film

Webster's dictionary defines a sequel as oh, who am I kidding. You and I both know what a sequel is, but this is elementary knowledge the bigwigs at Vishesh Films might currently require. Because there is absolutely no rationale behind naming their new movie Jannat 2, the film having nothing whatsoever to do with the 2008 film or any of its characters. It shares a director and a leading man, yes, but by that logic next week's Hollywood release would be called
