Jeewan Mrityu is a 1970 Indian Bollywood film released on 1970. "Your Honour, the accused Ashok is a dangerous criminal. He is a cheat, a thief. He took unfair advantage of the responsibiltity and turst reposed in him and committed theft of Rupees ten lakhs from the Bank. He is a lot on Society and an enemy of the mankind"....these world-sharp accusations of the Prosecutor pierce the stone-walls of the jail and echo in the ears of Ashok confined behind thick iron bars of the cell for these seven long years the world had known him only as a cheat and a thief. . In fact, what was not his correct descriptin. Once he had honour and respect. He had his mother who underwnet severe hardships to educated him and make him competent and worthy. He also cherished a dream indeed a very sweet dream. Deepa the only daughter of his late father close friedn and a well known business magnate Babu Ram Kishore was his class-mate in the College. They always teased each other, laughed, played and dreamt of their future blissful wedded life. . After levaing College Ashok was appointed Probation Officer in the Citizen Bank. he worked day and night. He had great ambitin of becom- ing a big man and earning an honourable place in Society. His hard work was aptly rewarded. Mr.Roy, the managing Director of the Bank, loved him as his son and the manager of the bank was also very happy and fully satisfied with his work. When the manager left the bank for better prospects, Ashok was promoted to the pose of the Manager in his place. . Some of the old and scheming employees of the bank were always jealus of hm and his promotion to the managers post provlked them. His colleagues Harihs, Jagat and Ramakant were in no mood to tlerate the injustice of a new arrival superceding their rights and sitting on their head. The three conspired and sought ways to humilate and trap Ashok. They vowed to wreck Ashoks life. . And, one day when Ashoks mother had completed all arrangements for her sons bethothal to Deepa and was eagerly awaiting his return from the bank, the police stepped into the house and accused him of stealing Rupees Ten Lakhas which were missing from the bank vaults. Since he as the manager had both the keys with him, none except him could open the vauts! And thus.....Piercing the sotne walls of the Prison and the thick iron abrs of his cell the judgement of the Court echoed in Ashoks ears. "This court finds Ashok guilty of the offence and he is sentenced to seven years giourus imprisonment." . Today, he has been deprived ofhis right to dream of a happy future. He has no right to have his own home. He has forfeited all the rights to live with honour and respect in the social world. To him his life is a big question mark.
