Naren Chowdhury came back from England with a totally Westernised mind. He could noy get on fairly with his traditional,old fashioned wife. Sita was tolerant of her husband's misbehaviour and remained devoted to her husband as before. Barrister Naren met Moli Sen at a party thrown by Jitu, Naren's friend. They became very intimate and finally Naren married her secretly.Sita came to know of her marriage through newspaper report. Where Naren appeared before before Sita, she did not accuse him, on the contrary, was eager to treat Moli as her younger sister.Naren was susprised, Sita of her own, came down stairs to live like a maid servant leaving the comforts of upstairs to Moli. As usual Moli arranged parties for dance, song and dinner with a lot of enthusasm. One day it so happened that Bijoli Bose, Moli's friend slapped Biju, the only little son of Naren and Sita in a fit of anger. Bindu, the maidservant of the family protested immediately against Moli's high handed behaviour. Bijoli Bose was insulted. This incident excited Naren and he abused Sita for all this. Next morning Naren was dumb founded to hear that Sita had left the house with Bindu and their son leaving behind a letter and her ornaments. Naren's mind was in the state of disarray at the news of Bijoli and Moli being intimate with each other. Sita lived with Bindu's brother who gave her shelter. When Biju fell ill, the doctor of a hospital gave hopes for his recovery and advised that the eminent doctor Satiranjan might find a cure for him.To save her son's life Sita approached Dr.Satiranjan who demanded Rs 32/-as he fees in advance. So Sita went to Naren who had left for Chittagang on an urget matter. No other option was left open than to approch Moli who refused to help her.She found a few currency note's on Moli's table seized them and ran straight to doctor's chamber bt by then Biju was dead. Naren came back to Kolkata from Chittagang seriously ill. In the court he felt down unconsious. He became blind . Dr.Satiranjan was to treat him, Naren's brother Sujan came to see him.He realised Naren's illness and found out Sita's address, told her everything and Sita was ready to be by his side as a a nurse in disguise.Blood had to be transfused and Sita donated her bood. Naren cursed his fate. None near and dear helped him with blood but an unknow nurse? Naren came to know Dr.Sati that his son was no more.He excited the name of Biju before his death.Sita also durnk poison and sank over her husband's dead body saying"I could not be your life partner but let me be your companion in death."
