Kaccha Limboo is a film where the first half and the second half seem to be two separate stories, almost unconnected with each other. While both the halves have interesting merits of their own, they fail to strike a cohesive chord as a combined whole. This is (literally) a film that works in parts. The first half will surely spark off sublime school-time memories. From reviving the convent school setting to representing the student psyche

“It’s ringing,” said a delightful Vinay Pathak in Sagar Ballary’s directorial debut Bheja Fry (2007). The comedy went on to become a sleeper hit. Ballary is now back with Kachcha Limboo, a film that highlights what children of 13-14 go through. Expectations have been high since Bheja Fry, more so now that a Bheja Fry sequel is under production. Sadly, Ballary doesn’t get it all right this time round. Every movie, made and based anywhere in the world or for that matter any work of art that makes observations about childhood is in part autobiographical. It'll take nerves of steel to sit through the entire duration of 'Kaccha Limboo', an overly long and meandering mess of a movie, directed by Bheja Fry's Sagar Bellary. Lost somewhere inside that mess, however, is a terrific idea. Shambhu, the protagonist of this film (played by Taheer Sutarwala) is an eighth standard fat kid who wants to be in with the cool crowd. He's picked on and called names, his classmates don't want him in their dance troupe

Hindi cinema is going through a major metamorphosis. Innovative ideas and fresh stories are being developed and executed by Gen X storytellers. BHEJA FRY director Sagar Ballary also tries to attempt something different from what he attempted in his maiden attempt. The humungous expectations from Ballary must've put tremendous pressure and responsibility on his shoulders, for sure. But before I begin to analyze KACCHA LIMBOO, let me clear

On the whole, KACCHA LIMBOO comes across as an unripe and undeveloped effort. Disappointing!
