Kamla Ki Maut 1990

Kamla Ki Maut is a 1990 Indian Bollywood social, offbeat film released on Jan 01, 1990. The film is directed by Basu Chatterjee.
This is the story of Sudhakar Patel. Sudhakar Patel meets with a young Anju and both fall in love with each other. Hoping to get marry very early, both get intimate with each other, resulting in Anju getting pregnant. Both do not have the means to look after a child and agrees to abort it. After the abortion Sudhakar goes away from Anju's life and her place. Sudhakar shifts to another town, falls again deeply in love with Chameli, and promises to get engaged to when accost by her rowdy father and townspeople, but subsequently moves away from her living also. Sudhakar then has a relationship with Laxmi, who is the girlfriend of his friend named as Prakash, and gets a noise alarm from Prakash when he figures out that he is half-naked in his house. Shortly after this, Sudhakar gets engaged to Nirmala, a young lady who was in love with her professor and wants to get marry to him. Years after, Sudhakar is still in relationship with Nirmala, he now has two beautiful daughters named as Geeta and Charu, who are of marriageable age. These two girls are having a relationship with Ajit and Deepak respectively. Their next door friend is Kamla Thakur who is to get engaged to Bhaskar soon, but commits the crime of killing herself by jumping from the 5th floor of her construction building. Her suicide shakes up the entire Patel tribe and each one must deal with their individual living and family - a struggle that may advance their lives forever.

Kamla, a 20-year old girl in love with a young man, is seized with panic when she discovers that she is pregnant. She lives in a one-room flat in a five-storey building teeming with middle class families. Seeing no way out of the problem and overcome by feelings of guilt, she goes to the balcony and jumps down to her death. Neighbours come out to watch the tragedy. Among them are Sudhakar, his wife, and their two daughters. The incident forces them all to think and look into their own secret lives. They come to the nagging conclusion that Kamla was no more guilty than they themselves.
