The film does have a sweetness that grows on you and seasoned actors like Ram Kapoor and Madhoo add a dignity to their roles. The love birds Tusshar and Amrita are in sync with each other, but the film is so predictable and so long, it loses impact.

Poor boy meets rich girl. Falls passionately in love with her. That money or social status may become a barrier doesn't cross his mind. Pitfalls, problems, hurdles and obstacles crop up with unceasing regularity. But fear not. This is a Barjatya film where scheming manipulative conmen turn into good Samaritans overnight and love conquers all. KALAKAAR is minus the above mentioned factors. For the first time we come across a Rajshri film which is not confined to a family drama, rather goes beyond it. If you’re looking for a sugar-coated, sweet and idealistic love story then this would be one to watch. On the other hand, if what you’re after is a film which makes you fall in love, dance in the isles and cry happy tears then you will sadly be better off going elsewhere because you most definitely will not find that here!

One can watch movies on television. But can anyone watch a television show in a movie hall? That's precisely the experience of watching this film. The maximum modernization that the Barjatya banner shows in their moviemaking is taking the lead couple's dating sessions to coffee houses and dancing stints to ballroom boogieing. Beyond that, the film continues to have all other clichés representative of Rajshri, despite being one of their rare offshoots

On the whole, LOVE U… MR KALAKAAR! is antiquated and old-fashioned and therefore, doesn’t work.
