This is your story. This is also the story of every family — This is the story of self respect- And now this is also the story of Shankar and Paro. Shankar is a simple, cultured young man. He was an orphan and was brought up by Thakur in his own house from his childhood,
Paro is the young daughr of Thakur. She is a simple, highly cultured and self respected girl. One day when Paro overhears her brother Pratap telling her mother about rumours of Paros affairs with Shanker. Paro feels sorry and decides to marry Shanker to remove the so—called blot on the family. Paro persuades Shanker to marry her. But Shanker refuses her proposal stating his own position. But as Pare threatens to commit suicide Shanker finally agrees to merry her. Due to the firm determination of Pare and on account of the persistence of her mother Laxmi, Paro’s father Thakur consents to the marriage. After the marriage Paro leaves her mother’s house with Shanker and they go to his friend Ramdas house for shelter, but due to the behaviour of Ramdas’s wife, they leave the place. Finally Shanker and Paro decide to go to his grandfather’s remote village and settle.
Pratap visits Savitri, his eldest sister for Raksha Bandhan’ and on his return home with Savitr’ Pratap gets down at the Village Railway Station to see Paro also. But seeing Shanker selling
“Bhutta” at the Platform, Pratap and Savitri feel ashamed and after insulting Shanker they return by the same train.
Paro gives birth to a chld and her parents come to see her and the child, but their father seeing their poverty gets frustrated and returns. Paro is invited for younger sister’s marriage. What happens there ? Paro’s mother tries to fill the gap at every stage. Did she succeed ? It is the story of clash between PRIDE and SELF- RESPECT.
