Manini is one of those bracing new wave of Marathi films. The film was produced on a casual budget of 8 lakhs and was shot mostly in Dubai. The story is pretty straightforward and simple: A village girl from Ratnagiri (played by Girija Oak) is hurriedly wed off to a very successfully emigrant from Dubai (played by Swapnil Joshi). The trouble is that he has entered into the wedding reluctantly and still hasn't moved from the break up his ex-sweetheart and coworker (played by Tanaaz Currim). This is combined with his regulating alpha-male nature, mean that things don't augur too well for his beau and she soon finds herself being discriminated. The only bright spot is that she has complete independence to go around wherever she likes during the day and finds a photographer called Deepak (played by Manoj Bidwai) and the story has further many roller coaster rides.
