Story


Manmani is a 1947 Indian Bollywood family drama, social film released on Jan 01, 1947. The film is directed by S. Badami.
Manohar and Shashi were a loving pair. During a picnic party there ensued a talk, as to who was a spendthrift - man or woman? Shashi defended her sect and Manohar pleaded for men. The argument began growing hot and Shashi challenged Manohar to prove that women were spendthrift. Manohar accepted the challenge. . He went on and on unable to decide how to prove his say. He came across a tomboyish village girl named Tara. She showed a weakness for being photographed. Manohar utilized the opportunity and persuaded her to leave for town. . Tara started a new life at Manohars residence. She was under the false impression that Manohar was a chauffer of a rich businessman. When she know the truth she resented her stay. This made Manohar sad, and so, she changed her mind. . Shashi came to know of the process of Manohars experiment. He was slowly changing Tara. He had a devote most of his time to Tara. Shash was neglected. She became aware that she was being drawn away and away from Manohar. But she would not swallow her pride and reconcile with him. Manohar was head over heels in love with Tara. He too because of pride and timidity, could not confess to Shashi that he loved Tara. Tara was happy. She wanted to show that happiness to her old blind father. She went to back to village completely transformed into a sophisticated lady. . Manohar had been photographing the gradual changes that she passed through and thought that he could prove his way. He also decide to tell Shashi all bout his love for Tara. He was sure that Shashi would understand him but things went differntly. . Tara reached the village. As usual there was a scandal in the village The could not digest the fact that a young girl could live with a male friend away from her parents. Tara got wild at such outrage. She took all the trouble-mongers to taks and announced that she was going to marry Manohar and show the villagers thta they were talking nonsense. She persuaded her father to accompany her to town. . Manohar was projecting his proofs on the screen to prove that as the opportunities allowed, the very woman was igonrant and innocent of the ways of the town, changed into one of the most expensive and extravagant lady. At this juncture Tara entered and found that she was nothing but a model for the experiment. She thought that she was only a tool for the rich who wanted to laught at her expense.
