Story

Maya Bazar is a 1958 Indian Bollywood fantasy film released on Jan 01, 1958. The film is directed by Babubhai Mistri, produced by Kumar Sahni under banner named Basant Pictures. Director Mistri created the special effects for his best-known mythological narrating episodes from the Mahabharata: e.g. the Rajasuya Yagna, Krishnas killing of Shisupal, the game of dice, and Abhimanyu and Ghatotkachs resue of Balrams daughter Surekha from the Kauravas. Mistri remade it in colour in 1984. *.* This story is from the great Hindu Epic, Mahabharata. . The Pandavas once performed " Rajasuya Yagna" with the desire to obtain the lordship of the world. At this Yagna they gave the place of pride to Lord Krishna, the Divine Cowherd. This angered Shishupal and the Kauravas. Lord Krishna had promised Shishupals mother that he would leave Shishupal alone till he had committed his hundredth sin. In this Yagna Shisupal commited the fatal Hundredth sin, and Krishnas famous"Sudarshan Chakra" severed his head from his body. . Angered by this, the kauravas decided to teach the Pandavas a good lesson. Knowing Yudisthirs love for gambling Shakuni and Duryodhan persuaded him to play a game of dice. In this game, Yudhistir lost everything; the Pandavas and Draupadi became the slave of the Kauravas The Kauravas banished the Pandavas to solitude for a period of thirteen years. . Balaram, the brother of Krishna, had decided to give his daughter, Surekha in marriage to Arjuns son, Abhimanyu. When he learnt from Shakuni that the Pandavas had gone into banishment, Balaram decided to give surekha in marriage to Laxman, the silly son of Duryodhana. When Abhimanyu came to know of this, he set out with his mother, Subhadra, to abduct the beautiful Surekha. In their wanderings, they came to the abode of Ghatotkach, son of Bhima. After the initial misunderstanding Ghatotkach and Abhimanyu joined hands. Ghatotkach promised Abhimanyu that he would remain by his side through thick and thin. Thanks to the prowess of Ghatotkach and the cunning of Krishna, the Kauravas were thoughly humbled, and Abhimanyu succeeded in abducting Surekha. Check out this page for more updates on Maya Bazar.
