Maya Machhindra is a 1951 Indian Bollywood musical film released on 1951. The film is directed by Aspi Irani, music composed by Premnath.
A boon given by a true yogi must be fulfilled - The powers contained in a yogis "Bhasm" cannot but achieve the object for which it is given. . Yogi Machhindranath gave "Bhasm" to Saraswati Bai for the birth of a child to her, but Saraswati could not keep the faith and threw it away in a ditch. The "Bhasm" true to its objective, took share of a human child underneath the surface of the earth and started developing into a strong healthy boy who later on became the Great Yogi Gorakhnath. Yogi Machhindra Nath returned after twelve years and saying "Chalo Gorakh Machhindara aya" took Gorakh away and after a severe test made him his Chief Desciple and started his tour of the world to remove sufferings of human beings. . To release the man-hater Tilotama from her sufferings under a curse, Machhindra Nath went to Stree Rajya, but himself fell a prey to her charms and got himself entangled in the worldly Moh-Maya. . Gorakh nath, shocked and dismayed after a long search gained admittance into Stree Rajya through the help of Kalinga, a dancer. . Gorakh did not deem it wise to make a direct approach to his Guru and so, on the day of Tripura Poornima Utsav, he transformed himself into a beutiful woman and played maridang to the accompaniment of Kalingas Dance. The mridang sounded and resounded till a clear voice became audible saying "Chalo Machhindra Gorkha Aya" . Machhindara got a rude shake up, awakening him from his deep slumber.
