Considering that Bollywood has so few adult films to offer, this one's a rare experience. And the fact that it is dealt with a degree of understatement and maturity, with a great music score (Ustad Shujat Hussain Khan and Sharang Dev) to translate the emotional quotient on to the screen, makes it a decent watch. Of course, we would have liked a bit more passion to flow between the protagonists, Mr Mehta and Mrs Singh

Infidelity on the part of a spouse is still a no-no for our audiences. The cheating spouse needs to be shown the error of his ways so that life can return to normal. In this scenario debut director Pravesh Bhardwaj's film Mr Singh Mrs Mehta comes as a bit of a surprise. Despite its many flaws the film steers clear from making any moral judgements. Mr Singh and Mrs Mehta (Naved Aslam, Lucy Hassan) have drifted into an adulterous relationship.

The film’s dialogue is stilted and wordy, especially for an extra-marital affair set in swishy London. For an adult movie, Mr Singh & Mrs Mehta is totally without passion, tension, intrigue, lust or drama, and in fact ends up as inane and child like in its slow, monotonous story telling. For added measure, make that a dull child narrating the tale. The film has a vague single point agenda, never shows purpose or picks pace

Infidelity. Cheating spouses. Switching partners. All of these elements feature in `Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’, which has two sets of husbands and wives playing musical beds with the most astonishingly enervating effect. Despite all the flesh on display —the curve of a bare breast, the length of a shapely back-- the film is dull and lifeless. What would a man about town ( Aslam) who’s having it off with one of his clients ( Haasan)

Mr. Singh Mrs. Mehta will be appreciated neither by the Singhs and the Mehtas nor by anyone else.
