Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Nandita (1944)
Surobala and Suryamukhi were childhood friends. At that time Surobala promised her daughter to be married to Suryamukhi's son. But the irony of fate was such that the day when widow Suryamukhi came with her son Bishnu to Surobala's guest house with a hope of getting food, Surobala could not recognize her. So Suryamukhi had to come down literaly on the street, and one day she lost Bishnu from from the street. Though Suryamukhi could not find her son, Bishnu got shelter in another mother’s house. 15years had passed, Bishnu had come young. He was a college student then. He met a girl. Her name was Niru. They liked each other. In his college vacation, Bishnu went to his village. There he found his actual mother Suryamukhi. Surobala at last could remember her childhood friend Suryamukhi. So, Surobala come to met Suryamukhi. Weather she could remember her childhood days with dolls and their promise. Bishnu protested. He asked them weather humanity is greater than any promise? But Niru said that, Suryamukhi's truth was much bigger than her life. Bishnu wanted to know from Niru weather their love was small? Niru didn't answer. Bishnu misunderstood Niru. He left. The grandfather said that Niru was doing mistake. He reminded Niru that should run after only that which she felt most important in her life. Niru went away to bring back Bishnu. She thought Bishnu was the most important thing in her life.
