Natir Puja was based on a play of the same name, which was the dramatised version of Rabindranath Tagore's long poem, Poojarini.
Natir Puja is the 2,500 year old story of a Nati (danseuse) sho sacrifices herself because of her devotion to Buddha. Tagore based the play on a legend in the Pali sacred boo, Avadhan Shatak.
