Nilimaye Nil is a 1991 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1991. The film is directed by Biresh Chattopadhyay.

Ananda is a brilliant student. He studies history and Sharmistha is studying geography. The story revolves around them. Sharmistha is from a very rich family and Ananda is a very poor boy. He is trying to get a job. One day Ananda meets Sharmistha in a taxi and learns about her forthcomong marriage to Bikash. Sharmistha doesn’t like Bikash. Sharmishtha always likes Ananda’s company. One day Ananda visits Sharmistha’s house and her mother insults him. After the incident Sharmishtha informs her mother about Ananda and her affair. Sharmishtha leaves her house and goes to Ananda’s hostel and tells him to marry her. Ananda marries Sharmishtha. They start to live together happilly. One day Sharmishtha gets sick and doctor advises to give her better food. Ananda hardly has any money to buy good food. He writes a book of history over night. He gets some eye problem and doctor advices him to take complete rest. But he does not listen . Ananda’s aunt tries to create misunderstanding between them. One day Sharmishtha does not find her locket and asks Ananda’s Aunt’s daughter. Ananda’s aunt gets angry and decides to leave Ananda’s home. Ananda scolds Sharmishtha and she leaves the house. Sharmishtha returns back to her mother. Now, her mother is still planning to get Sharmishtha married to Bikash. Ananda is totally blind, but Sharmishtha is unaware about this. During the wedding party of Sharmishtha's brother, Uma, sister of Ananda attends the party. Sharmistha wants to see Ananda. Uma takes her to Ananda. Sharmishta comes to know that Ananda is blind.. They come close again and start to live together happily.
