Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Pa Ma Ga Re Sa (2009)
Samrat Sen, a very successful Bengali musician discovers a great hidden talent in Paramita, a very simple girl during his trip to Shillong. He falls in love with her and decides to bring her to Kolkata so that everyone can get to know about her. Samrat decide to come out with an album called Pa-Ma-Ga-Re-Sa with his compositions and Paramita as the singer. At that point of time, Rai, a Bengali pop and rock singer from U.S arrives in Kolkata and contacts Samrat as she wants to do something jointly. During a practice session, Rai ‘s version of Paramita’s song turns out to be as good as Paramita, though it is a slighter modern version. Paramita goes out of town to conduct a workshop for a month and a half. She comes back and gets to know that Pa-Ma-Ga-Re-Sa has been released and has become a big hit with Rai and Samrat on the billboards everywhere and with tunes which have been completely changed. There is a row and she goes back to Shillong. There is a growing distance between both of them and Samrat can not concentrate on his work anymore. Even Samrat and Rai’s joint project is cancelled. When Paramita accepts a job offer from Mani Mohapatra (M.D of Jhankar Music) to go to London (actually a ploy to separate Samrat and Paramita), Samrat goes to Shillong and brings Paramita back. Meanwhile she had come to know that Pandit Surya Sekha Acharya, Rai’s father was her father and he had deserted her and her mother soon after she was born. Panditji comes to know his daughter’s identity after listening to her concert. Rai decides to take charge of Panditji’s new music academy in the US and starts teaching music even to the foreigners. She remains unmarried.
Music forms the crux of Surajit Dhar’s directorial debut Pa Ma Ga Re Sa which revolves around the lives of Samrat, Paromita and Rai.
Samrat (Rohit Roy) is a successful Bengali pop musician who discovers the talented Paromita (Reshmi Ghosh) in Shillong. He brings Paromita to Kolkata, hoping her voice will captivate city audiences and the two fall in love.
However, their happily-ever-after is still out of reach. Paromita’s unwillingness to follow current music trends leads her back to Shillong where she becomes a recluse. In the meantime, Samrat’s music begins to suffer.
Enter Rai (Gauri Karnik), who’s flown in all the way from New York to become the third corner of this love triangle. As expected, she too falls for Samrat and tries to help him regain his former glory. But Samrat can’t get Paromita out of his mind. As the film progresses, it’s revealed that the pasts of the two leading ladies are connected, which leads to further complexities.
