Path 2003

Path is a 2003 Indian Bengali drama film released on 2003. The film is directed by Pintu Chatterjee, produced by Ranjit Gupta.

Aniresh is an engireering final year student who is returning home after hearing that his elder brother Paritosh is missing . On his way he witnesse a murder. Traumatised by the violence he comes to know that Paritosh has joined a political party and is wanted by the police. Ruling political party leader Jaganath Mitra alias Jagada is a charimatic leader who fights for the cause of human rights . Through Jagada Animesh is able to meet his brother. But Paritosh is killed in front of Animush by the party goons which includes Animesh's childhood friends like Bhola. He doesn't disclose the secret of his brother's death to anyone but Rimi. He gets into a fight with Bhola in the street and is sentenced to police custody . Rimi is raped in custody because she helps Animesh to run away. Her traumatised father attempts suicide. Rimi leaves home and starts working in an orphanage .Jagada takes Animesh to Sucheta , another fellow political activist. Aniimesh gradually gets immersed into the violent game of politics. Meanhile their fellow political member Paban Sarkar gets a ticket for the election and wins but Sucheta and Animesh comes to know that this win due to political compromise betwiin Jagada and Nishi Saha . Animesh protests against this evil and violence ensuesleading to the death of a child in Sarada Ashram . Arimesh surrenders and is given 11 yrs of sentence . When he is released from prison after a few years for good conduct he sees that everything around him has changed. Jagada is actually a hypocrite who had used people. Sucheta and Animesh start a new political party and Animesh stands for the same electoral seat as Jagada. Finally Jagada and his goons are killed . It is a new begining for the estranged lovers and a new path of political socialism is paved.
