Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Pratishruti (1941)
Bipin's family consisted of his wife and two sons. His elder son Kumarnath used to study in the city college and his younger son Arun was in school. Bipin was a small businessman. Arun and Nilamber's daughter Shanti were childhood friends. But relationsjhoip between Nilamber and Bipin deteriorated. Nilamber built a wall between their houses. Bipin fell ill. Kumarmnath came to see his father. He promised his father that he would take care of his property and bring up his younger brother. Nalinaksha babu was a professor of Calcutta College. His daughter Anubha came close to Kumarnath. But as he had to take the responsibility of his family he had to sacrifice his wish of higher education. So Nalinaksha abodoned the proposition of Anubha's marriage with Kumarnath. Kumarnath came back to his village. One day Kumarnath proposed for Shanti's marriage with Arun to Nilamber. Nilamber agreed. Arun passed the intermediate exam. Kumarnath sent him to Calcutta College. Shanti fell in love with Arun in his absense. Hostel friend Bilash one day took Arun to Sumita Devi's house. Arun started to going to Sumita Devi's place frequently. That occasion forced Arun to forget his childhood friend Shanti. Arun's mother came to know about his downfall. She became ill. When a telegran reaches the hostel regarding Arun's mother illness Arun was at Sumita Devi's place. After seven days when he returned to the hostel and got the telegram it was too late. When he reached the village his mother was already dead. After Arun came back to Calcutta, Sumita devi told him that she did not want him anymore. Arun was so frustrated that he murdered Sumita Devi. Police arrested Arun. Kumarnath could not leave his brother alone as he had promised his father to looik after him. So he took all the blame in his own shoulder.
