Pyasi Sham is a 1969 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1969. The film is directed by Amar Kumar, music composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Sunil Dutt and Firoz Kumar fall in love with the same girl, Sharmila Tagore. Firoz Khan's grandfather seeks Sharmila Tagore's hand for his grandson but Firoz khan doesn't know about Sunil Dutt and Sharmila Tagore's relationship. Sunil Dutt's sister falls in love with Ravi and they both get married but Sunil Dutt tries to hide the relationship of their love and sacrifice from his friend. Firoz Khan's father has a smuggling business and once when the police are at his heels, he quickly transfers the blame on Ravi. After some complications Firoz Khan dies leaving the duo to carry on with their life of togetherness blissfully. INADEQUATE


In frinendship, Raja is closer to Ashok than his own heart. Where as Raja is the owner of a ordinary record shop. Ashok is a son of a mult- imillionaire Ashoks grandpa, Walaitiram, and father Shankerlal, consider Raja to be as good as their own son, Ashok. If at all Raja considers anybody closer than his friend Ashok, it is his own sister Laj, whose husband Ravi is employed in Ashoks fathers concern. . In between, Rajas frineds get into a wrong flat, in their effort to see the fiancess of a frend. They run into a ravishingly beautiful girl Madhu. No sooner they realise their mistake, they have to take to their heels. Raja is insistent on offering apology to the girl and asks for her forgiveness. He reaches her flat the next day, only to be shown the door pesters the helpless girl by sending her telegram after telegram in one of which he gives her frined Ashoks address. Determined to teach Raja a lesson. Madhu reaches Ashoks house. Ashok grandpa, Walaitiram, sees the girl and is dazed he wants her grandson to marry this beauty. Ashok is inclined but the day Madhu learns that Raja had mortgaged his very shop in order to save her father form Shankerlals debt, she not only gives way but also falls in love with Raja, after a few meetings. Yet she has to agree to marry Ashok in order to save her father from the heavy debts of Shankerlal. Through a strange co-incidence the two frineds come to know that they loved the same girl. Raja cools off towards Madhu deliberately, but Ashok scores in friendship as he announces Madhus marriage to Raja, in the function arranged for his bethrothal to Madhu. Shankerlal is greatly incensed and he divises a very devious method of removing Raja from the scene. He involves Ravi Rajas brother-in-law in a smuggling racket and removes him from the scene to lodge him in his sea side den under pretxt of saving him from the long arms of law, knowing as he did that Raja will go to any length for the sake of his sister. . Laj is woe-begone, as her husband disppears. Raja, as also Ashok, are not able to bear it. Raja reaches Ravi on a slender clue but when he finds that Ravi is refusing to return on his wife, and scuffle ensues between him and Raja. Ravi falls over the cliff down into the sea.... . Ravis personal effects washed ashore, make Raja certain that he was instrumental in the murder of his own brother-in-law and thus becoming the reason of Lajs becoming a widow. He cannot face her and takes to excessive drinking, in order to hide his sense of guilt. It also means the postponement of marriage to Madhu. Madhu is nowhere. . All stand baffled - Walaitiram, Ashok, Laj and nobody is able to know the reason of Rajas becoming a dipsomaniac. Four lives are on the verge of distruction and only one thing can save them.
